- Cancelbefore the renewal date
- Donekeep the download link
Who can cancel a Harvest account
Only the Account Owner can cancel or close the account, and only in a web browser: the mobile and desktop apps can't do it. If you don't see a Close account option in Settings, you aren't the owner. Ask the owner to do it.
Two ways to cancel
1. Schedule the cancellation (recommended)
Answer three short questions and confirm. Your account stays active until the current subscription ends, so your team can keep tracking while you move. If the button is greyed out, undo any scheduled plan change in the Billing tab first. Before the end date you can still withdraw the cancellation.
2. Close immediately
This takes effect right away, even with time left in the billing cycle. Use it only when everything is already exported and checked.
What happens to your data
Scheduled cancellation
Close immediately
- Download link: after closing, the Account Owner gets a link to time and invoice data, valid for one week.
- Scheduled cancellation: data is kept for six months. An administrator can renew within that time, then it's permanently deleted.
- Immediate closure: data is permanently removed after 10 days. Closed by mistake? Contact Harvest support within those 10 days.
Checklist before you cancel
- All company time CSV from Settings → Import/Export, opened and checked
- All invoices and all estimates (ZIP files of PDFs)
- Detailed expense report as PDF, which includes receipt images
- Clients, contacts, tasks, people and projects lists (CSV or Excel)
- A list of integrations and scripts that use the Harvest API
- Totals checked: hours and billable amount per project match Harvest

When to cancel
Schedule the cancellation before your renewal date. Your team keeps working until the term ends, and you avoid paying for another period at the new price. Moving takes most teams a day or two, plus a week of running both tools side by side. Check your renewal date in the Billing tab and work back from it.
Where to go next
Feestead imports your whole Harvest account with one token: people, clients, projects, task and person rates and every time entry. Every project then shows Harvest's hours, entries and billable amount next to ours, so you can cancel knowing nothing was lost. Moving somewhere else? Our free migration checker compares the two exports project by project. Still choosing? See Harvest alternatives compared.
Move from Harvest without losing a minute
Paste a Harvest token, import everything, and check every project against Harvest's numbers before you cancel. 7 days free, then $9 per person/month billed yearly ($108/person/year), or $11 monthly, with no usage fees.
FAQ
Can I cancel Harvest from the mobile app?
No. Cancelling and closing only work in a web browser, and only for the Account Owner.
Will I lose my data when I cancel Harvest?
Not right away. You get a one-week download link for time and invoice data. After a scheduled cancellation the account data is kept for six months; after an immediate closure it's removed after 10 days. Export everything yourself first.
Can I undo a cancellation?
Before the end date, an administrator can withdraw a scheduled cancellation. Within six months after it ends, an administrator can renew the subscription from Billing.
